Kailey and Ryder Russell - Wedding at Wildcliff
Intimate Mountain Hues Inspired Summer Wedding at Cliff-side Destination Wedding Venue in Blackwater, Missouri
As the hot summer sun began to set low behind the tan and orange cliffs, close family and friends who sat with an impeccable view of the still lake before them began to cool in the shade. The aisle was lined with smooth textured branches, purple hued blooms, and grasses, while a large branch and floral installation magnificently stood at the head of the aisle where Ryder stood with the preacher and the bridal party. As the music changed, Ryder looked to his far left to see Kailey and her father walking slowly up the driveway from the bridal cottage. He couldn’t take his eyes from his bride as she rounded the corner to the aisle. It was one of those tender moments that all brides dream of experiencing: being escorted hand in hand with your father up the aisle to the man that you know you’re going to spend the rest of your life with. Ryder and Kailey’s mothers smiled brilliantly through tears of joy as Kailey hugged her father and took her husbands hand.
After a hot and humid day, all was peaceful and calm as Ryder and Kailey exchanged their handwritten vows and their rings in front of the cliff-side lake. With a first kiss as husband and wife and shared hug afterwards as if to say, “We finally made it; I belong to you and you belong to me" the pair walked side by side as the new Mr. and Mrs. Russell.
And at the head of the aisle a mirrored sign spoke the truth of their entire day as it read, “And so the adventure begins...”
Kailey is a brilliant florist in Missouri (whom I have worked with on several projects in the past) and with the help of friends they created one of the most stunning floral displays I have ever had the pleasure of photographing at a wedding. Representing hues of the mountains where Kailey and Ryder were engaged, this floral color palette was uniquely and 100% them.
I had heard all day long that Ryder’s grandmother makes the most amazing pineapple upside down cake, and that there would be some at the reception. Before I left the reception for the evening I had to grab a piece, and I must agree with everyone that she does in fact make a mean pineapple upside down cake!
Ryder and Kailey’s wedding was very upscale DIY. From the pies and pastries made by family, to the floral inspiration dreamt up by Kailey, to the couple’s wedding cake that was made by the bride herself, every little detail of the wedding exuded personality and meaning.
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Russell. Bless your marriage!
