God gave me eyes to see you, then He gave me a camera to remember you.
Who I Am: I'm Kelsi! I'm from a small map dot called Summerfield, Missouri. I grew up on a large family farm located next to the Gasconade River, where I learned how to bottle feed a calf, dig for arrowheads, swim, fish, and hunt (I know, I am a bit of a tomboy). Shortly after I graduated from college, I married my high school sweetheart, best friend, and the love of my life, Blake. We bought our first home and moved to the city in the Spring of 2014. I'm a faithful follower of Christ, a dreamer, and a bit of a long-winded story-teller.
What I Do: If I'm not dreaming up my husband and I's next adventure in this great big world, sipping on a cup of hot black coffee early in the morning, or pinning images to my 'dream home' board on Pinterest (y'all are equally in love with Joanna Gaines' style too, right?), you can find me with my camera in hand documenting one-of-a-kind weddings here in the Mid-West, and beyond. My style of photography is a mix between documentary and lifestyle. I love documenting the majority of a wedding day just as it unfolds...no crazy posing or awkward smiles here! The lifestyle portion of the day comes out during bridal portraits, when I coach the Bride and Groom through simple but interactive poses that translate authentically on camera. I love seeing a couple's personality unfold right in front of my lens (I guess that's where my psychology degree comes in handy!) and creating lovely portraits that showcase who they truly are!
My Journey To Photography: My journey to what I now call my passion is a little unorthodox. No, I'm not one of those photographers that had my camera in hand ever since I was little. Heck, photography was never even on my radar when I thought about what I wanted to be when I grew up. But, on a warm August Sunday in 2015, Blake and I were enjoying our afternoon together, talking about the future as we do from time to time. We talked about how amazing God's blessings have been in our marriage, about dreams that we had for ourselves, and about talents that we wished to possess. I suddenly had an idea. I turned to my husband and said, "I think I would really like to be a photographer." I'll never forget, he was walking in the kitchen when I made that statement, and he turned around to look at me, smiled, and replied, "I know you would be really good at that." So, right then and there I purchased my first Nikon, and within a week, I had assisted in photographing two weddings. From that very moment, I was hooked on weddings. Talk about a whirlwind! Now here I am, two years later from that life-changing Sunday and nearly 50 weddings in. All I can say is that God. Is. Good.
What I Love: This is the good stuff, y'all. I'm a lover of McAlister's half-cut tea (extra lemon, please!) and browsing around at antique shops. What you might not know about me is that I am very much an old soul. I'm addicted to the 1950's (Really; I watch "I Love Lucy" on the daily). I love cool and quiet early mornings sitting on the front porch with a hot cup of coffee or Twinings Irish breakfast tea in hand. I absolutely love planning my spring and summer garden, and you can catch me out there tending to it frequently. Sure, I could go to the local farmer's market and pick up fresh, organic produce, but there's so much satisfaction in growing it yourself! I love meeting creative Brides and Grooms that want their wedding to be as unique as they are. Give me a naturally lit, outdoor wedding in a beautiful setting and I'm over the moon! I am very much a traveler. My husband and I try to venture off to somewhere new at least once a year, but Maui...oh Maui...it will always have a piece of my heart!
My Mission: To glorify God as I serve my couples. I strive to develop long-lasting relationships with each and every one of my couples as I photograph the genuine moments that will be their memories for years to come.
